Masses for the dead online
2011-11-01
The Philippine Catholic Church has opened an internet site where Filipinos could offer Masses for the dead in time for the conventional days of recalling departed family, a spokesperson claimed Monday. Monsignor Pedro Quitorio, a speaker for the Catholic Bishops Meeting of the Philippines, declared the internet site undasonline.com typically targets millions of overseas Filipinos unable to go to graveyards at home. "For people who can't make it to your parishes, particularly Filipinos in other states or the seafarers, you will request for masses to be celebrated for your dear dead," Quitorio related. Filipinos could also send requests by e-mail, he explained. Millions of Filipinos have started to go to graveyards countrywide before All Saints Day and All Souls Day, major vacations in the mostly Catholic Philippines, the normal days for recalling the dead. The party follows the non secular convention of recollecting saints. It also became opportunity for kin to collect together to recollect their dead.
