Send button added to Facebook
2011-04-27
Facebook on Monday commenced letting members of comfy cliques formed at the social networking service share web site links or photograph albums without all of their pals knowing about it. A "Send" button letting people share site links with selected cadres rather than all Facebook friends was among enhancements being rolled out to a "Groups" feature launched in October of last year. More than 50,000,000 groups have been made at Facebook since the option became available. "A year back, we launched the 'Like ' button, which gives you a fast way to share the things you find on the Web with all of your friends," Groups team engineer Elliot Lynde recounted in an article. "But there are occasions when you find something you only wish to share with 1 or 2 particular people." New Send buttons, which were at fifty preferred sites and predicted to spread to others, let Facebook users share links to pages with fellow members of express groups or individual chums at the web social network. As an example, somebody could send a link to information regarding a rock concert to roomies and a link to an engaging business book article to office peers. The Groups feature lets Facebook members set up non-public online havens for clumps of work-mates, family, colleagues, or others. Enhancements to Groups included having the ability to poll members on subjects from timing of impending conferences to locations for social outings. Group members are also being given the choice of uploading whole photograph albums for sharing. An extra control feature stops new members from being added without approval of group directors.
